Donutz No news yet, that I've seen. This is Canada. We can't get an autopsy done in 60 minutes, allowing for commercials.

I am also with you about your perception of Canada. I always feel much safer in your cities then in any American city. In the woods where your are isolated and there are not witnesses, its a different story. Not only that but as an avid back packer, I simply will NOT hike in Grizzly habitat unarmed. The Sig is almost useless in that environment so what I carry in the back country is my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum 7 1/2 inch barrel. That thing went with me everywhere in Alaska where we are definitely not at the top of the food chain....
Nice! Yeah I love the SIG... Always wanted a 226 it's just such a beast. Very balanced, very durable, designed for one purpose and one purpose only, to fire every time, and do it accurately!

Was hoping the .40 cal would have a little more stopping power for animals (not that I'd carry it in the woods incase anyone is listening!) but I think I'd have better luck carrying the shotgun. She'd get heavy after a while, so I think I'm going to hike in medium groups for a while out here until I get my bearings. In Ontario it's a different story, I had a couple black bear encounters in the woods and lived to tell about it. It's an eery feeling 10 km into the woods with just my GF with me, and just our wits to keep us from being cougar lunch.

cjcameron11 cool, i just assumed you would need a big fuck off rifle/desert eagle etc, but then again i really don't know much about guns

cjcameron11 call me naive but would that .44 take down a grizzly? I'm assuming cos you carry it that you are confident it would

I've got a P226 former service gun in .40 S&W... I'd be the first one in line to vote yes for open carry in Canada.

The crazy thing is I'd prefer it for hiking, the streets are pretty safe up here. But off in the woods it'd be a nice little added safety device for anything alive that wanted me dead.

Last time I went to Jay Peak I wanted to open carry just for the fun of it (I think VT is an open carry state, maybe it was NH) I just didn't feel like going through the border hassles, and dealing with american cops if there was some technicality I wasn't sure about. The law's pretty clear up here. I can walk down the street (unless there's a municipal by-law) with a semi-auto shotgun loaded with slugs, but not have a .22 pea shooter pistol on my hip.
