What type of terrain are you looking to ride?

Big mountain steeps with lots of powder? - Snowbird

Tree runs with lots of chutes and cliffs into powder? - Brighton

Inbound type backcountry? - Solitude

Park sessions with big jumps or rails? - Park City / The Canyons

Utah has everything to offer, you have 7 resorts within 30-45 minutes of downtown and another 3 within an hour.

diver_matt Good info...thanks. I keep hoping to find a lodging bargain but so far, downtown is still saves enough to make it worth the drive to the slopes.

philadendron What Treegreen said, but you'll also be close to the Ogden resorts (Powder Mountain and Snowbasin) and the Park City resorts (PCMR and Canyons). They get less snow than the LCC/BCC resorts but they are still quality options. I just came back from Canyons and I rode PCMR and Snowbasin last season. After a dump, they would all be epic. I think they'd both be about 30 minutes from downtown SLC. Also, hit Squatters for good beer and food (if you're into that).

Treegreen Downtown SLC is close to both the Big Cottonwood Canyon and the Little Cottonwood Canyon so take your pick of Brighton, Solitude (30ish minutes), and Snowbird (40ish minutes).
