PA n8 The other day when I went boarding I realized I was leaning on my back leg because I forgot I needed to lean forward. It feels weird to lean forward, but once you realize it makes it easier, it gives you confidence to do more forward lean.

TYrice93 I noticed I was having problems with turning on my toe edge. It helped me to look back up towards the mountain and turn my body that way. As you turn your body and head, your board will usually follow.. At least it did for me. Another problem for me was that I was afraid of catching my edge and slamming. Don't think about the negative stuff like falling and go for it! Also use your arms and hand for balance. Let loose and bend those knees too! Good luck

StrattonRider i took a lesson today to just get better at carving. the instructor told me to lean into the turn and dont rock onto the other edge you want to place it there, but you have to do it fast

I actually tried getting myself to do that a few days ago on smaller slopes but I always forget whenever it gets steep. Never knew it was that important... I'll keep that in mind tomorrow!

Lean forward (it's hard psychologically I know) and immediately turn toeside. Pause if you need to, it's ok, Then lean forward, and immediately turn heelside. Wash, rinse repeat. Pretty soon you'll get over the fear. That's how I did it at first. What gave me the confidence was that by leaning forward I was in more control.

AIRider We've all been there, I'm lean back too much on super steeps.

But on medium steep, where I have more room to wiggle, I reach down with my leading arm and try to grab/touch the side of my knee. Dipping the shoulder down, thus shifting my weight forward. It's a small trick I use to remind myself.

I have the same problem, i tend to lean backward on steep run, i always have to remind myself to put my weight forward.

aiidoneus Without video or more details, my guess is you have too much weight on your back leg. This is common as the run gets steeper. People tend to lean back, instead you need to have the weight on your front leg as you initiate the turn.

Turning Help :/

I started finding out that it's harder for me to initiate turns as I get to steeper parts of the slope. It might be in my head, but sometimes I can't start turning on a new edge for some reason.

Btw... usually when this happens it's steep enough that I'm doing skidded turns if that makes a difference.
