legallyillegal Cam Wake, 45.5" vert (Combine's 2nd highest ever)

There were defensive ends this year that had higher verts than Watt at the combine so I don't get all the hoopla.
Height has nothing to do with vert? A taller person will have more length to "spring from" before taking flight. It helps. I know that vert is measured in a way to eliminate height differences from the measurement, but a 7 foot guy, is going to have an advantage over a 4'10" guy. Think of the legs as a spring. The taller guy has a longer spring.

The hoopla, this isn't a vertical jump. It's almost 5 feet tall, 2 feet higher than the verticals you are citing at the combine.

Jumping that high, getting on it, balancing, and not falling on your ass is harder than, stand here and jump.

It is impressive to jump that high regardless of who else can do it. I'm certain I can't do it.

59 1/2" is 1/2" short of 5 feet though, not 6 feet.

linvillegorge Don't forget the Jones brothers. Arthur Jones is a DT for the Baltimore Ravens, Chandler Jones is a DE for the New England Patriots, and Jon Jones is the current UFC Light Heavyweight champion. Ridiculous.
