SpringheelJack He intentionally selected a politician no one suspects of being corrupt, and one who's black. Burris would/will be the only black senator. The Senate is the only body who has the power to deny him his seat, and that makes it especially sticky for them.

A delightful move by Bjag, but to whose benefit I wonder.

just the beginning

Chicago/Illinois is so corrupt it makes me sick. Come to think of it, politics makes me sick. Chicago is a LIBERAL state and has been for a long time. It has shitty schools, high crime rates, and ooober other problems. You think Blago is the only one? There are conservs and libs, i believe, in prison this day on corruption charges. Blago thinks this is normal. He's lived this life forever and he knows no better, along with most politicians. I can't wait to see this unfold. I'm curious to see who gets thrown under the bus and/or i'm interested to see how this may get covered up by the drive-bys stories on Obama's luxurious vacations. Lets hear some thoughts on this ordeal, I'm open ears....errr eyes...

Bjagojevich makes a nomination

Everyone's favorite Illinois governor put forth a name for Obama's vacant seat today, former Illinois Attorney General and current Some Guy, Roland Burris. Burris' most notable qualification for the job is his role as A Black Guy, and in case anyone's doubting that Bjagojevich played the race card in an attempt to get his nomination through, I quote Illinois' esteemed rep Bobby Rush: "I would ask you to not hang or lynch the appointee as you try to castigate the appointer".

What's fun though, is attempting-to-curry-misplaced-racial-loyalty-so-you-can-sell-senate-seats aside, is that apparently Bjagojevich apparently doesn't even need to try to defend his appointment. From what I've been hearing, all of the confirmations involved are strictly administrative duties with no discretion, so apparently no one has the power to veto Bjag unless they can prove corruption in this particular appointment.

Between this and the $9 packs of smokes, I'm really glad I don't live in Chicago.
