LOL. Her parents already bought her a swimming suit, but I was thinking of getting those little floaty water wing thingy's too.

Haha yeah, from what I've seen on Facebook, her mother has the cardboard boxes and such end of things covered. That crazy baby girl is the easiest person in the world to please.

neni yea... actually no fancy toys necessary to get a 1y old happy. I don't have kids, so if friends with kids visit, I'm always short of "real" toys. But with some plastic cups and kitchen boxes, a muddler and some poker chips they're completely occupied makes a whole lot of noise too
As long as my godchild was so small, I asked the mother, what she needed for the kid at the very moment. And I opened an account he'll get when he's 18y; will get him lessons n car (usually the most urgent need of a 18y here since colledge is nearly cost-free).

boarderaholic Holy crap. Good call on the college fund. And yeah, I'm not over the moon about buying her material goods either for the very reason that at this age, she won't remember any of it anyway.

That's what I was going to say! In fact forget the toy all together. Just get her a box! Big enough to crawl through and make a fort out of.

Wait is she from Edmonton? Bring her to Calgary for the weekend, that's all the gift any Edmontonian could ever hope for!

wrathfuldeity 10 piece drum set, marshall full stack, sun bass amp with 8x10" cab...buy the vintage stuff now...it will be priceless by the time they use it. And in 12 years and the niece will love you for it and your brother/sister-in law will be sending them to you for proper schooling...and you get to be the crazy cool aunt that teaches her about tequila shots and boys always lie.

at that young of an age this is the way to go... save the toys for when they can actually play with them by themselves in my opinion.
