snowklinger I've replaced day tripping, with tripping during the day, its so much easier traffic wise not to mention good for my brain compared to 7 hours of road rage.

linvillegorge Yep, if I didn't live in Evergreen I'd probably be done day tripping as well.

I think within the next five years or so we'll see an end come to the viability of day tripping from Denver if the trend continues. Especially to Vail. The diehards may still do Luv, WP, Summit County, etc. but Vail? BC? That shit just won't be feasible any longer.

snowklinger Last year completely burnt me on day tripping as a Denver local. Most of the weekdays I showed up at LUV last year to a full lot by 9am, never rode the cat once last year, got burned several times trying.

My new goal is the occasional weekday with a focus on 2-3 day trips.

Enjoying the outdoors from the Metro as a jumping off point is like enjoying times square at this point. Fuckin clownshoes.

linvillegorge I can understand. Hell, if it wasn't for having a kid I may have already quit weekend riding myself, but she has me up at 6am just about everyday anyway, so I'm just used to it at this point.

If things keep going at the current pace, I figure I have maybe five more years left in CO until I say fuck it, cash in my chips and move. At that point, I'll probably have enough equity in my house to sell and damn near pay cash somewhere else. Mortgage free living under 40? Yeah, sign me up for that.

deagol My co-worker is older than I am, and has quit skiing due to traffic and crowds. He spent his entire life here and it really sucks for him now.
linvillegorge Leaving Evergreen by 6:30 and heading back by 1:30 or so I've had very few issues. But like Bigfoot said, just 15 minutes off and you might as well just roll over and go back to sleep.

mojo maestro Traffic is always and fro...........sleep in........don't sleep in........doesn't matter...........
Big Foot It's gotten to the point where if I'm not on the road by 6:00AM I don't bother going. The difference in traffic between 6:00AM and 6:15AM is astounding.

Jcb890 We didn't experience any I-70 traffic going from Frisco to Copper, but that's only a 10-15 minute drive. Very easy and nice and convenient. We had an awesome trip, I'll have to make a trip report post and link it here. Still going through and sorting photos and catching up on sleep though!

I did hit rush hour traffic on I-70 going into Denver Wednesday evening going to the airport though and that was brutal.

If you leave before or at 5:45 you'll get there with very minimal traffic, after that and it can be in between two and half hours too three and a half. Leave before 3:00 and you should be fine going back from my experience.
