Um...? The Snow Summit recommendation is a good one. It's a little more low key than Bear and generally less populated with wannabe thugs. That said, its still SoCal, so expect to see your fair share of asshats that all think they're the shit because they're rockin' the latest and greatest gear. Ignore these fools, be courteous of others around you, and you'll be a ghost.

And remember that your lift ticket works for both resorts, so if you're not feelin Summit, bounce over to Bear.

Have fun. Conditions are fanfn'tastic right now.

BigGameHit I may not have much room to speak here because im a new guy. I never boarded in my life until 2 months ago. I just came back from the biggest range in my area called Mt. Hakkoda with all of my limbs attached after going through the forest trail lol. As the guys above stated, if you have ski experience, you should be fine.

i ride bear and it has a fun atmosphere, but for your first day i would recommend snow summit which is bears sister mountain. i learned to ride there myself, its usually less crowded and has less jumps and stuff like that so the runs are more open

twin89 i think the thing that may hekp if you have been skiing is that you may be more comfortable with speed, which most new boarders are not as so they freek out as soon as they go >5mph then they fall cause they are scared.

the fact that you ski and have experience getting down a mountain on snow already should help with the nerves in the beginning. i think the initial learning curve of snowboarding's a bit harder than skiing but you should have a big leg up over someone who's never been on a mountain before. well, assuming you don't suck at skiing anyways
