kaborkian Cartel and CustomX are leaning to the stiffer side...but not a 10.

Your weight plays into it as well. I do find that what a 130 lb rider calls "medium" feels like a pair of slippers to my 200 lbs. A burton driver X or K2 Maysis (both "stiff") feel medium to me.

Point is, it's subjective. Get what feels right to you. Flex them by doing some deep knee bends, pay attention to when your heels come off the ground and how much weight it takes to make that happen. Something like a burton hail, which is rated at 6/10 stiff, feels like mush to me. My son, who is 40 lbs lighter, finds them just right.

As to what fits the bindings, what size boots do you wear? If you're an 8-11, and your cartels are medium, they will fit. Adjust the bindings right and your good to go.

Tatanka Head Go to a shop and try them on. So many variables with stiffness and riders. If you already know a brand and you want to stick with them then it can be easier. But if you are reaching for new new, then best to go to a shop and feel them out. And if you are a big guy, double check for durability and reputation for holding flex. Otherwise you might crush them in one season.

Ravenous Thanks for the feedback!

Recently I tried the Flow Rival and the Flow ANSR. The shop employe told me these were the stiffest boots they sold. Altough the boots themself aren't that stiff I was told the BOA lacing system would make up for that.
Do you share his opinion?

In case a boot fits me well. How can I determine if it is a good match for the binding?

Boots for setup

Hey guys!

I was wondering if you could help me out with picking my boots.

I've got the following board; Burton custom X with Cartel bindings. So I am looking for some stiff boots. So far I've had alot of troube finding out which boots are stiff, and which ones aren't. Sometimes this information is given, often not.

Besides being stiff they also need to fit on my bindings and more importantly they should be a good fit in general.

So I was hoping you guys could give me some advice and or a list of canidates so I can hit the shops and try them out.
