speedjason believe or not wood actually can become semi transparent if the light hits the grain in the right angle.
it may also be gaps between the wood pieces but it shouldnt affect the functionality of the core.

BurtonAvenger A clear base/topsheet that you can see. Just ride it and shut your brain off.

Really? Oh, than I'm back to being happy with my new board After inspecting the entire board, I found like three more of those, but they were much less visible. So, anyway, what makes the core look like that? I'm probably VERY wrong about things, but the one in my Lamar looked more solid [as in, without any crevices and stuff, not more durable]. And by the way, thanks for lighting fast replies!

Wigu Well, it's not gonna win me a pulitzer prize, but here it is - I think the crack is visible.

Wigu Hey,
now that I checked it again, the crack is actually pretty far to the side of the nose, not at the tip. It ends a little towards the middle of where the carbon array thing starts. So there's that.

Wooden core split in a brand new Ride Wild Life.

I'm completely new here, and, as a matter of fact, I just registered to ask you guys a question that I couldn't find an answer to elsewhere. Recently I bought a 2013/14 Ride Wild Life [my first real upgrade from the pretty horrid Lamar that started showing some real wear after a week in Cortina last year] and I made a stupid mistake of not examining it properly before buying it. It looked fine. Two days ago, however, I just happened to hold it against a lamp [by accident, really, not that I was looking for defects or anything], and I saw that the wooden core inside is split right at the nose. The crack is about 10 centimeters long. That got me worried. Should I contact the shop and have the board replaced, or is it just a "trademark feature" of Ride snowboards? I'm not really sure if I should worry about it or not.
Anyway, thanks for any information that any of you might provide
