Probably just because once you are deployed out of country a lot of the times you are allowed to grow a beard so most people go with it since any other time they can't. It might seem a bit extreme in the movie(I still haven't seen it so I don't know) but it's also possible it's like that in real life. You get the freedom you take advantage of it lol

Maybe you were watching Lone Ranger?

I thought it was pretty good but Marky Mark's acting was a bit nowhere...

Did anyone else notice that everyone in it had a beard?

Invincible? I guess you missed the part where all but one of them died. That is unless you have a much different definition of "invincible" than the rest of the entire world.

1. The ending. That was complete Hollywood. Not even close to what actually happened.

2. The portrayal of equipment failure causing the communication issues. It wasn't equipment failure, it was bureaucratic bullshit and just plain dropping the ball.

I also think they couldn't done a better job of going into the rules of engagement. They're fucking bullshit. Bureaucratic noise and ridiculous rules are the two main reasons I didn't even consider going into the military.
Similar to Mogadishu and armored vehicles. Govt. here wouldn't approve funding for it.

readimag Here is a great book when they sent in the Rangers to do the SAR mission for the guys. It is written by a Ranger medic who was looking for them.

Naturesabre Yeah, my dad and I read the book a while ago when one of his friends recommended it. I've wanted to be military my whole life so the bs rules of engagement and the failure of communication because of bureaucracy(thank you google chrome spellcheck) really ticked me off when I was reading it. I didn't get the chance to get off base and see the movie but hopefully I'll see it soon.

Soft Loved the movie, sad to know how it's based on a real story.
