neednsnow Colorado is killing it right now, but Utah is on its way to catching up. Something to think about is temp and elevation. Colorado is still pretty cold in March whereas Utah starts to warm up a bit once the sun comes out. That being said, the snow stay darn fluffy for a few days up in the Cottonwoods in March and April, but the sunshine is much comfier.

Also understand that the peak snowpack in places like Snowbird and Sol/Bright is much larger than colorado, so a similar base will be a lower proportion of snowpack in the cottonwoods than in Colorado.

Historically, Utah does pretty well in the spring. Currently, Colorado is where it is at.

mikeg I've been in crested butte this week and it's definitely worth checking out. There are a bunch of cool bars/restaurants in town and also slopeside. A lot of variable terrain. So far I think it's a pretty cool place.

Check recent late February/early march snow falls of previous years. Some states have heavy march's and some have light.. even though anything can happen.. some weather sites have like 30 day forecasts.. even though it might be wrong.. it's something

I-70 and north has been getting the love in CO this year. It's pretty damn good everywhere though.

You also have to consider that a couple of weeks ago was mid-January. That's still pretty early in terms of overall snowpack. Peak snowpack generally occurs in mid-April or so before melt starts to gain way on new snowfall.

March 9th-11th: CO or UT?

As of right now I'd say Co is the place to go. Utah is getting some right now though. Trying to predict the future , I'd go with Co just cause we've had a better overall season as of right now.

March 9th-11th: CO or UT?

We're in February now and about a month away from my trip. Would like to get your opinions on going out west and deciding between CO and UT.

Some info, small group of 4 intermediate riders that like freeriding and don't really do park. Would consider trying glades. Not too worried about nightlife so don't need the Vail or Breck feel to it.

Based on what I've read, I hear that CO is the place to be this year based on the snowfall, but I've also heard about Miracle March in UT. Which one do you guys think would be better and what mtns would you recommend?

Thanks
