Either is fine. I prefer the convenience of on the mountain, but in Fernie's case the drive pretty short. The only problem is if you stay on the mountain and go party in town without a DD. There's like 3 taxis in town.

If I can afford it, the mountain is nicer. Easier to get first chair, break for lunch, etc.

Fernie Slopeside Lodge (used to be called the Wolfs Den) is decent. It won't win any 5 star awards, but when I've stayed there it's been clean, cheap and they have a BBQ on the back deck you can use.

I've been there twice in rain, once it was horrible and everything crusted up the next day. Another time it must have turned to powder overnight, because we were treated with endless lines the next day.

Keep an eye on the weather whatever you end up doing. Sunday is +8 so a chance of rain.

seriouscat Epic day today. Dry powder from knee to waist deep in many areas if you know where to go. Perfect weather too.

Try currie bowl if u like thai, he sushi is pretty good as well.

Ate at the bridge bistro and went to the brickhouse pub. Favourite was the bridge though, Moscow mules and very interesting menu, brick oven pizza and fajitas, roast bore, elk ribs, sturgeon too. Will be going back again next time for sure.
