Not sure I agree, but maybe, and I like it. It helps with balance, and it gives your core a good workout. Plus I have always been a fish. Swimming, scuba diving, surfing, bodyboarding, whatever water sport I could get my hands on I pretty much enjoyed. SUP is just another option, one that I think will transfer well to CO.

Pick a wetsuit to suit that case. "Dress for immersion", is the common mantra...a pretty good one. Board shorts may be fine for whatever you're planning. Maybe not. Choose appropriately.
Unless your paddling in the blowing snow, a wetsuit in any form is overkill. There is no "immersion" as long as you don't fall in. Paddling is a workout, wearing a neoprene wetsuit while trying to paddle is asinine. If you want to be in the water wearing a wetsuit, kayaking sounds more appropriate. If your gonna paddle rapids, then a wetsuit may be useful.

ridinbend If you want something your not going to get heat exhaustion in get a 2m wetsuit top or tank top. Holy shit your mad if you think you'll last more than five minutes in a 4/3. Even a 3/2 is going to ruin your time. No wetsuit needed. A 4/3 wetsuit is what I wear on the Oregon coast while submerged for hours in water that's in the low 5o's.

Now just to go on a rant here: WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH STAND UP PADDLEBOARDING? In the 80's/90's we used my dads windsurfer, and stood on it with a paddle when we were too small to hold the sail up. We didn't call it something new, it was an interim way of being on the board until we were big enough to hold the sail!

Once I hit my mid-late teens we started actually using the sail and it is WAY more fun than standing on the bloody thing with a paddle!!!

I tried it in Belize on the ocean about a year ago (was a bit choppy). I thought I would like it, but didn't like it that much. Kayaking was way more fun to me....
YMMV
