caribchakita Ramshead was closed this past weekend. Conditions were much better than last and less crowds. And I made my goal; to snowboard in a bikini for my last snowboard sesh. Overall, a great first season and ya, I am a snowboarder. Oh, was on Superstar, my first black diamond!! YIKES

It might only be open on weekends now? When I checked the trail report last week before my trip it said Ramshead was closed (checked on Wednesday) but it was open Saturday/Sunday.

Slush Puppie before the moguls get too high, i find that carving cuts through the slush better than skidded turns and you get great grip too. But once the bumps get too big, just play around with them; spin off them, cross under turn down the zipper line. Great conditions for practicing freestyle so just have fun.

I spent a large chunk of my day at Neff, pretty fun park. I didn't check out stash because as soon as we saw how bad Skye Peak was we went right back over to the other side.

Cruise control is an awesome run. Its off the needle eye lift. Skye lark and bittersweet are also good runs off the same lift I believe. Off of K1 East Fall was alright and branches off into a black diamond that is pretty short and manageable if you're comfortable with blue's. Those are the only blue's I remember hitting off the top of my head. All of these are gonna be pretty tracked out by 12 though

Spring Snowboarding in April

Got back from chamonix last weekend and the run down from the gondola down to the base was nothing but slush! First time I've ever experienced it as well.

Can still get a decent edge hold in the stuff just expect it to give out at some point. And have the board move around underneath you. Other than that I don't think I change my technique forget it's slush and charge as you would normally 😄 & I had beaver wax all temp on my doa and it still had plenty of speed when you wanted it although it wasn't as hot as it will be for you

Lol! Don't let this guy kid you. There's still plenty of "hard" underneath all that mashed tater, slushy goodness. I know, just spent 3 days riding the same stuff here. Bouncing out of a heelside turn and skipping 30-40 ft. down the slope on my fat ass? You betcha it still feels plenty hard! (...it's orders of magnitude better than falling on slab ice or hardpack, not to mention I'm old n frail! . But you still feel the big ones plenty!)

Riding that pushed and bumped up corn n slush gets to be hard work as the day progresses and you start to tire. And it is real easy to misjudge a turn or something and get launched off the top or bounced off of your edge in a hard/fast turn.

I used some of my time this weekend practicing short, tight radius turns on the steeper sections with lots of irregular bumps n piles. You're not looking to be "flying" down a run doing this. It's way more about control and adjusting for the right line.

However, first thing? When the runs are still smooth and relatively soft? Yeah! That's the time to go for rippin' ass down the hill!

Hope you have fun and just enjoy the late season riding.
