Day 2: Super Bowl

So day 2 we got to Mt. Hood Meadows in time to catch a hike up Super Bowl. I'm so glad we did. The corn was PERFECT. So buttery, and so rideable. I couldn't have asked for better spring conditions. Pics!

Heading up to Super Bowl

Almost there

Stoked to Drop

Let's do this

HUGE Cliffs

The turns were soooo good

Cool waterfall we saw on the ride down

Mt. Hood:White River Canyon & Super Bowl

I'm a little late, but on 4/9, and 4/10 I went down to Hood and did some BC riding, and a little resort riding as well. The plan was for Wednesday 4/9 to be a full BC day where we skin up to as high as we could get and then ride down the White River Canyon to the W.R.C. SnoPark parking lot. Due to a slightly later than planned start, and the conditions, we only skinned from the the Timberline lower lot to the top of Palmer and then dropped into the canyon at the top of the Palmer traverse. We thought we would have wind packed powder on top, and spring slush on bottom, and what we got instead was solid hard pack with little icy "chicken heads" everywhere, that turned into almost spring corn, which then quickly transitioned into a breakable rain crust with mush underneath. It was a challenging and fun day overall. Here's some pics.

Just after the skin up Magic Mile getting ready to go up Palmer.

Going up Palmer

Getting ready to drop

Looking back at the drop in. These would be the best turns of the day.

This was the traverse from hell. Lol

This was me, just trying to stay up. My legs were fried from the roughly 2 mile skin up.

That crust was a bitch, and those snow boulders were the size of buses.

Success! I was WIPED

And a group shot
