ylnad123 It looks like the cartel will probably be the best fit for me. Thanks everyone for the help.

The CO2 highback is different. It uses the real mesh as opposed to the injected plastic on the triad.

The CO2's are very stiff. Burton may only rate them 1 point higher than the cartels, but they are very stiff compared to the cartels. Not that the cartels are too flexible (I have a pair and they are just how I like em, not too soft not too stiff). The other main advantage of the CO2's is that they weight next to nothing due to all the Carbon in them. So if you want a very stiff and very light binding then get the CO2, but if you want a still pretty light binding and a little more flex then get the cartels.

Burton rates their responsiveness on a 10-point scale as follows:

CO2 -- 8
Cartel -- 7
Triad -- 6

So yeah, the CO2 probably much stffer than Triad, a bit stiffer than Cartel. The CO2 costs about $370 and Cartel is $230. IMO, you'll probably be wasting $140 if you buy the CO2s.

david_z triads were my second choice, but i wanted the stiffer cartels. triads would probably be a solid pick!

Reede I got rid of my Cartels recently for a set of EST Triads, I just wanted a bit more comfort and the forward lean on the Cartels was ridiculous (everyone says the newer model "fixes" this but ill believe that when I ride them)

If money isn't an issue tho then CO2's are a hot binding. Theyre just not very good value at full price.

Deviant Triads my friend. They use the Cartel base with the C02 highback (least that's what I'm told). I rode Cartel EST's before I bought the Triads, Triads are waaaay more comfortable than the Cartels, and I notice very little if any loss of response. Even if I crank them down as tight as I can get them they are still super comfortable. Was a bit bummed to sell the Cartels but if I get another board with the Channel I'll be hooking the Triads up to it again.

david_z no experience with the other burton bindings, I got a pair of Cartels last February a day before heading to Tremblant for a week. They were my first new pair of binders in about 5 years so it took me a few days to dial them up right, but they're seriously rad.they're super padded and keep your foot locked down well without any pinching, they weigh next-to-nothing and you can adjust almost every piece of them without a screwdriver/multi-tool.

Dano ^^^ QFT. I'm riding this year's CO2 and I have to admit, although the edge to edge transfer, forward lean, straps, mesh highback, and cushioned base plates are all equally mind blowing, the price is brutal. If you have the money to spend and can find a set of last year's CO2 EST, do it. But you'll have no regrets with the Cartels, they are an amazing binding that performs all over the mountain for a decent price.

return2heaven cartels are great bindings. the higher you go up in price, the stiffer the binding with one or 2 diffrences in materials like carbon fiber baseplates, and different straps.

if you're not worried about price and you won't be in the park much id go for co2's for more response
