fsdv Thank you all for helping me out, I finally found a board!

arsenic0 Budget and snowboarding can be a dangerous mix sometimes..especially on craigslist..

Minimum i would say your looking at atleast 250-300 bucks for a bottom of the barrel setup with boots/bindings/board. 150-200 for a used board/binding combo, and another 100 for the cheapest boots you can find in the store as buying used boots is stupid. Its like buying someones used nike's they wore for 3 years....i'd suggest against it.

Looking on craigslist theres this guy in Vancouver BC selling a older Burton Custom...could try offering him 75 for the board and then buy some better bindings.

Atomic Hatchet with Technine bindings for 90..hes posted it several times so he will go cheap..again the bindings are shit but offer 50-75ish bucks and see what he says...

linvillegorge Yeah, I was just using them as a reference point for you as far as the going prices of used gear in this area.

I wonder if the hype around the winter Olympics is driving up gear prices in your area?

fsdv I live in Vancouver.

Thanks for those boards, but they are all way too big for me. I am around 172cm and 140 pounds, so I'd rather ride something in between 147-152cm.

linvillegorge $180 for a 4 year old board with POS bindings?! Aw, hell no!!!

Hell no on that Destroyer too. I can't even tell what those bindings are but they don't look top of shit.

Where are you located? Seems to be that it's a hell of a seller's market on used snowboard gear wherever you are.

I'd be looking at both of those setups as board only purchases as the Tech Nines are definitely shit and those on the Destroyer don't look any better.

Keeping that in mind, to keep things in perspective, here's a last year's Never Summer Heritage ($550 board) that looked to be in pretty much new condition and it went for $250.

Here are some setups that are CL in CO right now for further reference:
'09 GNU Rider's Choice with Burton Freestyles and Burton boots for $250. The Freestyles aren't great by any means, but usable. I'd tell him to keep his boots and offer him $200.
GNU Riders Choice complete Snowboard Setup

'09 Ride Yukon $175
2009 Ride Yukon 159 Snowboard

new Burton Blunt with stickers still on it $175

fsdv The board is $180 and the owner said it was just serviced not too long ago.

How about a Forum Destroyer? I found a Forum Destroyer 152cm board with some top of the line Forum bindings as the seller says.
It is a 2008 board and its priced at $180 also.

attached is a picture of those bindings.

Is the Forum Destroyer overall a better deal compared to the Rome Agent?

linvillegorge What's the price? The Agent is a pretty decent board, but those Tech Nines are garbage.

I'd just look the board over really well. Check the edges, check the base for damages or poorly repaired damages, check for delamination, make sure the camber hasn't been ridden out of it, etc.

Considering you're still going to need bindings, I definitely would go over $75 for the board, then you can grab those Ride MVMT bindings off of the For Sale forum for $40 and there ya go.

Not a fan of Ride bindings, but for $40 you can't go wrong.

In need of board on a budget, buy used?

I am fairly new at snowboarding but I'm progressing very fast and I would like to buy a snowboard because rentals cost like 50 bucks every time. However, I'm on a very tight budget. Btw, I would like to get into freestyle riding.

I was thinking about buying a used board. It is a Rome Agent 152cm 2006 with Technine Bindings. Is this a good board? I've read much about the Rome Agent. My only concern is that it is a 2006 board, but the owner did say it was only used for 1 season.

another board I was looking at was the Identity Sapient 147cm with Option Bindings. This is supposedly a brand new board. but Sapient boards don't seem to be too popular.

They are both around the same price, which one do you guys think I should go for?
I'm kind of leaning towards the Rome Agent, but as I said, my only concern is the fact that it is a 2006 board. Do you guys think this will be a problem?

attached is a picture of the Rome Agent.
