bmies Haha, I've lived here for 5 years. Ph.D student at WPI now. Fron TN though, so I wouldnt consider myself a Woo-Rat. Haha.

ribuck97 Hah... are you a Woo-Rat?

Sry, had to ask... Learned the term from when I would visit Holy Cross with my college roommate and his brother (the HC student) would poke fun at the Worcester locals.

I hit WaWa more than likely for the last time on friday. Was great until about 2pm when the snow got a little too slushy.

I almost got the Slash... but wanted more freeride board and ended up with an Arbor.

bmies So, I finally got out on the mountain again despite the torn Meniscus. Although I was limited in riding because of that, the Slash felt great.

- a shorter board is so much more maneuverable compared to my big board
- it carved great and held an edge like a champ, great considering anything but carving hurt alot
- it was much softer than my old board. I tried buttering, nose presses, tail presses and although it hurt like the dickens, I could tell the board really felt great doing it.
- it was very forgiving when landing in comparison to the old board
- it spun very well, almost effortless in comparison to the 7cm longer board I was riding
- it was a little bit less stable at speed on the steeps, as expected, but nothing scary
- the almost twin shape was noticably better when riding switch

Only 4 or 5 very painful runs, but I'm really looking forward to riding it hard next season.

bmies I sure hope I can escape worcester eventually. I tried but the haggard o'l bitch (meaning Worcester - I think its an appropriate name) yanked me back in on my way to sunny California. WPI I dont mind. I get paid to do research on bad ass projects and design / build race car engineering projects. Not bad.

Yeah, dosn't seem like people can escape that place...and I'm not sure if I mean WPI or Worcester.

(1) EB has a long rep for being a good shop, in both skate and snow worlds.

(2) WPI?

bmies Thanks, I'm happy with the purchase. Its strange, I have an easier time buying a car than a snowboard, haha. Yep, Eastern Boarder. I'll gladly do buiseness with them again. Great guys. Even got into some intelligent discussions of how boards and bindings worked on an engineering level, i'm a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering. I was impressed.

Haha, I wish I could. My knee is pretty destroyed at the moment, it'll take at least a few more days till I'm able to ride again unfortunately. I've also got meetings / class from around 10am to 9pm. While I have pulled off an 8:45 to 9:30 trip to Wawa before, and gone to class in my gear, haha, the knee is going to stop me this time. Another time, for sure. Thanks.

Everything i've learned, i've learned on a board 9cm longer and much stiffer. I'm interested to see how I do downsizing that and capitalizing on the benefits of this more freestyle oriented board. YAY!!!

One other note....

I couldnt be happier with the shop I've been dealing with here in Worcester. Almost every time I went in, I dealt with someone different while trying to make a decision. The never fed me any BS and seemed genuinelly enthused in helping. I got a good deal and would recommend them to anyone. I'd originally thought I'd buy it online, but I couldnt beat the service from this place.
(1) Congrats

(2) What shop? (EB?)

(3) All the more reason to meet at me Wawa tomorrow
