AcroPhile I wouldn't go above 156 then, at least not for now. That 147 board may be way to short for the type of riding you're looking to do.

So now I'm thinking about getting the Lib Skate Banana in green/blue in 156 so ill have room to grow but not too much like I would with the 158.
How old are you?

AcroPhile I ride a 155 reverse camber now. My last board was a regular camber 158. I like the way this one feels a LOT better. You are slightly taller than me but i have 25 pounds on you so the 154 should be fine

Would you recommend that in size 154? It's 1cm wider than my current board which should be perfect since with my forces mounted -15 +15 the bottom of the binding overhands the board.

Roundabout136 I wear a size 12, with a L/XL binding and never have had a wide board. IMO you'll be fine with a regular width board.

AcroPhile I am 5'9", 165 lbs, and wear a size 12 boot. Every board I have ever owned was a standard width and my boots fit fine on it with a +20,-10 stance. In your situation I would get a standard width board. Wide boards are more difficult to initiate turns especially if you only weight 140 and you will probably find it even harder to go from edge to edge. Generally a wide board is required if your toes are over hanging the edge of the board and you find yourself scraping the toe of your boot along the snow when doing carving toe-side turns. Since you said you were at a beginner/ intermediate level, most of your turns are probably skidded turns or scarving which a slight toe overhang won't really effect you too much.

ylnad123 With a size 11 boot I would stick to a width minimum of 25.3, look at boards that are 154-155 with a waist width of 25.3 or above.

Not sure what your budget is or how much skill you have but lib tech has a trs c2btx in a 154 with 25.3 waist width. It's a good all mountain board and easy to get on edge because of the banana.

Do I really need a wide board?

For Christmas I got the 2011 Union Forces and a pair of DC Scout Boa boots in size 11. Now I just need to get a board...

I'm looking to spend under $400 but can borrow up to $100 if I need to.

I'm 5'11" and weigh ≈ 140lbs with causal clothes on. My skill level up would say is beginner to intermediate and I'm looking for an all-mountain/freestyle board. I want to be able to have enough stability for the slopes but would also like to be able to hit some boxes, kickers, and maybe some rails.

I used my friends old Soloman board that was a standard width 156 and hates that board. It felt way too big and I had trouble getting from edge to edge and I feel I could do better if I had a board more suited to me.

So do I need a wide board and what would you recommend?
