I saw Rush back in the day with...reo, head east, bto, or mountian really don't remeber the exact 3 band bill. I do recall that mountian was the better. But there are lots of excellent muscians that I don't particularily care for their music but can appreciate their talent.
But wasn't rush based on a gay inhalent.

In high school I played in a classic rock cover band that covered "The Trees," "Closer to the Heart," "Limelight," "Freewill," "YYZ," "Tom Sawer," "Fly by Night"...I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Our singer was equally bad.
Saw them in concert at The Gorge during their Test for Echo tour = EPIC!!!
I fully understand and accept why people don't like Rush or any of the other music I listen to

Nope, never seen them live. Seen live shows on DVD, but never in person.
I'm afraid I'd stick a pencil through my eardrums if I had to hear Geddy Lee sing in person. That's really the major FAIL of Rush. Geddy Lee singing. Just stop that and I'd probably like them.

Blasphemy! Rush kicks ass. I have seen them live and it was a great show. Neil Peart is one of the best drummers around.
I will give you that their lyrics are very strange but that is about my only gripe. Subdivisions, Limelight, Spirit of the Radio, Freewill, and Working Man are all great songs. You are obviously missing something since they have been around and popular for 30 years.
Bonus points for their tie ins with Freaks and Geeks and I Love You Man
