You don't need longer, just something different. Powder=LegBurn unless you're on a swallow or something like the Fish, Malolo... super setback super tapers.
If you're getting chatter try something like a K2 Slayblade, Ride Highlife, Arbor Abacus, Burton Supermodel, or a Neversummer Raptor.
Anything from a 160-163.

|Kesserendrel||Freeride with lots of powder. The Raygun is unstable at speed and even with the rocker the back leg burns. I knew it was a bit short going in, but I wanted something short to learn on.|

|mbesp||What kind of riding are you doing on these things?|

why going sooo big?
i'm 5'10" 190lbs can also legpress over 800lbs and lift a lot, but i ride a 155er board.
you could get away with a sligthly stiffer 160cm!
just length isn't everything! my 155 has a 120cm effective edge and is slightly stiffer than average.
it's my all-mountain fun stick. it doesn't chatter while speeding due to it's stiffness and is stable while carving. i have to admit that it could float way better in powder, but it's a true twin, what do i expect?

|Kesserendrel||I need to go long; I'm built like a short linebacker. 5'9" 225 and can leg press about 800lbs.|

|mbesp||those are some moster lengths man. You shouldn't have any problems with 11.5s on a 260ww board. I think I would say go for the non-wide.|

Going longer rather than to a wide?
I wear size 11.5 boots, so not real flippers, and I see some longer standard width boards have a waist width that should be large enough (258-262mm) to handle my feet without drag. The board I'm on now (160cm K2 Raygun) has a waist width of 265mm, and I want to step up in length with my next board. I'm worried that a 164-166 wide is going to be TOO wide to be nimble. Will something like a 165-167 standard width board with a waist in the 260mm range be better?
