skip11 I'm 5'5" 150 lbs, ride the 153cm. Flex will break in after around 20 days to about stiff side of medium.

Irahi I'm 5'7", 155 lbs, and I ride the 157cm T.Rice. I used to ride a 153 before I picked up this board, and I was a little worried about the length, but it's not an issue at all. I can spin it just fine, it handles really well at high speeds, and jumps like a dream. So if you want the extra length, don't sweat it, just go for it.

more size help

About to buy the 2011 Lib Tech Travis Rice.
I'm 5'11' 160lb & 10.5 US- intermediate - mainly groomers, some pow and some park.

Can either get the 153cm or the 157cm. Shame there isn't a board size in between these. Seems like a big jump.

Any thoughts on which one to get? Just don't know which way to go.

onewingeddevil Hey guys, thanks for the response. I don't think I'll be riding pow anytime soon. And I think I'll be roughly riding for about 10 days a season. I think I'm gonna go for the shorter length. Since I'm still kinda new to the sport, I might wanna try some stuff in the future.

Irahi The difference between boards when you're talking about a few centimeters is pure preference. It may require a little bit more strength to spin or turn a 152 vs. 157, but if that's what you ride, your body will adapt.

Longer will be a bit more stable at high speeds, float a bit better in powder, but not be quite as agile if you're interested in trees or throwing some freestyle into your freeride. Keep in mind how often you intend on boarding, you'll build strength plenty quickly so long as you're out on the mountain frequently, but if you aren't going at least once a week, you might want to err on the side of shortness.

Steez at 5'9 for a free ride do a 155-157 i'd do a 155 or a little less if u dont want to be forced to do all back country only do 157+ if your going to be strictly riding backcountry

Board Size Help

I'm considering on getting a new board this season. I'm

5'9
62 kg
8.5 US

I would say I'm an intermediate. I picked up the sport last season and progressed pretty well. My current board is a 05/06 5150 Nomad 151. I am more of a freeride-all mountain rider.

Using the Custom X as a reference, the finder gave me a 152. I understand that you generally size up for freeride and pow. In that case, would I be looking at the next size up, 156?
