BigDouggieDoug Report:

Too bad for us boarding Colorado for the first time ever and it had to be one of the worst seasons. Packed-powder and icy spots. Had to go out of bound to find some powder. We loved the wide runs and huge mountains though and will have to return on a better season. And the service at the resorts were top notch. Oh the food in Aspen was excellent but was hell trying to get a table every night. We had a great time trying out the Superpipe at Buttermilk. One of my buddies cracked his helmet on it! He's fine though.

cjcameron11 i have no idea about any of these mountains as i havent been there yet but looking at pics and youtube vids both the Lake Chutes and Snow white look pretty damn steep to me, maybe im not at that level but watching some vids of people dropping into lake chutes the damn thing looks almost vertical at the top.

BigDouggieDoug I really appreciate all the suggestions.

Booked for Aspen! Probably will do day trips to Vail & another resort.

Sick-Pow Dude, anything out on the west coast is steeper than 80% of lift served Colorado! That must have been a shocker for you.

Mary Jane has some good lift served steep tree terrain, Beaver Creek does too. Steamboat has some fun stuff.

Jackson is the place for Rocky Mtn Steep.

there are many places here in CO that have good hike to areas and above treeline.

Brek, Keystone, Snowmass, buttermilk, are flat, hell even Vail is flat and cat tracked.

Lift Served.

BurtonAvenger I lived in Steamboat I know what it has it's not that great it's flat on about 85% of the inbounds shit and the "steeps" are still flat. Then again moved from Stevens Pass WA to Steamboat that was a HUGE let down.

Go to Aspen 4 mountains right there not as crowded as summit.

Milo doesn't know Breck and has written it off that's fine you need to know the mountain to get the goods and I'll be honest I like many people do not share the goods nor care to share the goods for good reason cause we like it good. Yes I put good in there a ton. I'll be honest Xmas week is a fucking headache here don't bother coming at all you'll be much much much happier.
Steamboat is a great mountain on a pow day because there are not tons of flat cat tracks, and yes, it is a steep ski hill. I ilke the gladed areas and the mtn is well laid out for lift served.

Steamboat compared to Breckenridge, Winter Park (not the Mary Jane side), Keystone, Buttermilk, Snowmass, is steeper and a well thought out lift served mtn. Compact, and a great town without the "epicness" of Vail Resorts......a good thing? I only wish Intrawest did not own it and it was local/private owned.
