neednsnow Classic Pass would be so much better if one could obtain it without having to be there in-person when purchasing. We tourons seem to be SOL.

mojo maestro Classic Pass is the good deal. Four days for $199 is 'bout as good as it gets. Dig a snow cave on the golf course right across from's right on the bus route.

killclimbz A$spen is great but yeah it's pricey. One of the best ski party towns anywhere.

There is a bus that runs up and down the valley to the Aspen area resorts. They are free from a certain distance and then there is a small charge I believe if you are at a certain distance from the resorts.

The bus is reliable around there for sure.

andy_d I assume the comment means that it's pretty expensive to go to Aspen?

The locations you recommended - looks like 30-40mins away from the mountains? We would need a car to get there?

killclimbz Aspen, where the beer flows like wine...

1. Not really. Look for the Aspen Classic Pass. Might be your best bet. Otherwise get a multi day pass.

2. Again, Not really. Especially around Aspen. There are a few Motel type places in the town of Aspen that will be a bit less, but it's pricey. Do find a better deal you are going to have to go down valley. Look at Carbondale, Basalt, Glennwood Springs.

Going to Aspen mid Jan - looking for recommendations..

1) Is there any way to get discounted tickets?

2) Any place to stay "near" the mountain for a cheapish price but not a dump?

I normally just go with a group and don't have to worry about planning but going with a few friends after another trip. It will be 4 of us and prefer two hotel rooms or 2 bedrooms
