blackbeard Thanks for the input guys!

I am going to check out Paragon tonight to talk to some knowledgeable people and then head out to the Mt. Everest sale tomorrow night before stuff gets picked through.

Hopefully I can pick up some new gear!

sangsters Looks like the Everest folks are going to be running a shuttle bus out to the sale (and back).

If this is anything like the old Princeton sales I wouldn't even think about going at the weekend. But maybe a half day on Wednesday is worth it?

Bus pick up is at Union Square so you can hit Paragon and then try to beat the prices at the sale.

ecks I'm not particularly fond of Paragon as a store because of the huge amount traffic and the hipsters at most of the sections but the snowboarding dept is pretty solid. A couple of the guys there are knowledgable and really attend to you. I stop by if I'm in the area and talk about the conditions in the area and see what new stuff they got. I got my girlfriend a pair of boots there last weekend and they hooked her up and let her walk around the whole store in a couple of pairs of boots to see which fit the best.

For all my stuff I usually I go to Gilly's Snowboard Shop in Pittsfield, MA. Its a good drive (~3 hours from the city) but my brother goes to RPI so I always make it out there when I pick him up. B.Gilly on the forum here owns the shop and I've never had a better experience at a snowboard shop.

Paragon is the best sporting goods store in the city. Four floors of just about you need. They're known to be a bit pricey but they do price match online retailers. Haven't been to their snow sports section in a while, but it's just as good as any other in the city.

Also REI just opened a huge store in SoHo, I think its actually opening weekend right now. I've never been to one of their stores, only ordered online, but I'm assuming they'd have a solid selection also.

I've lived in NYC my entire life... man I hate Paragon.

In addition to the shops mentioned, there are a couple of good places in NJ if you've got yourself a Zipcar.

Thank you!

Sick guys! Thanks for the recommendations. The Mt. Everest sale looks interesting. I'll check out the other stores as well.

Happy I found this forum!

EatRideSleep Some other members in the city have mentioned Blades and Paragon.

LuckyRVA Not sure of what shops are around in the city but if you don't mind hopping on the E train and taking it to Forest Hills (Queens) come check out Emilio's on Queens Blvd.
I received a 10% off Black Friday (and Saturday) coupon yesterday. Shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll email the coupon to you. It's good 11/25-11/28.

Snowboarding can be a VERY complicated industry depending on what kind of rider you are and what kind of terrain/riding you do.
Yeah, I'm looking for a board and bindings for a beginner/intermediate rider. I posted something the "Boards" forum and have gotten some feedback so I have a decent idea on what I want. Just need to physically go to stores and check out the merchandise myself.
