|ETM||I will study that book for the next few months before I take my course in July or August, just waiting on dates to be published. Watching the vid of that small avy on the other page was a real eye opener, see how easy it slid ontop of the hoar layer.|

|linvillegorge||They're not really calling for much snow here east of the divide, but I just got home and it's starting to snow lightly. What really gets my attention though is that the dder and elk are out in full force right now. They're everywhere. I think the forecasters may be wrong on this one...|

Traffic alert sign on I-70W reads "BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE DANGER IS HIGH".
The shit show has begun. It's bumper to bumper up Lookout Mountain due to a wreck in the median.

|killclimbz||It's all I've seen. I don't blame them, this is a junk show weekend and the potential for multiple accidents are there. Especially around the Front Range, which could stretch S&R very thin. Seems like every news source is posting the warning. Also, add to the fact that we are at our seasonal average with a solid two months plus to go. It could be a record year. Which is also the last thing we need. Then some jack ass politician will start talking about responsibility, what can we do about it, etc...|

You can't fault them for lack of effort. They're really trying to get the word out there. They're talking about it on the news, on the radio, and now online via The Denver Post.

|killclimbz||For sure. The snow pack is inching up to a tipping point. To be honest I wish we would get a good dump that would just overload the faceted layer at the bottom altogether. I don't think it's going to happen. If we do get an avy cycle, it'll probably just be on that layer just above the ground facets, leaving us with the same damn problem. I also don't think this storm is going to be enough for that. It will be enough that a given slope could be overloaded with the addition of say a snowboarder...|

|linvillegorge||You know it's bad when they're making announcements on the radio about how bad the avy conditions are. They're REALLY nervous about the upcoming holiday weekend and for good reason. Things are already very touchy and they're calling for snow this weekend.|
