In fact, got a 10-day old pair sitting in my trunk that I had planned to use as spare/back-up - unfortunately, I got the medium size, which is just a pain with my bulky Fargos...

Why would you recommend a stiff binding?
As far as the size 158 was the biggest they made. I am 185, but I need to loose some of my gut to bring that down to 180 or 175 ideally. I agree for deep POW days a longer board might be better, but on the other hand a shorter board naturally set back like this one gives a skate board feel with loose trucks and is great for POW tree runs. Its a good all around board, but likely there are times it wouldnt be ideal.

Consider diodes or recent c60's for bindings, nice and stiff - the hinge rocks on the diodes
Any concerns the board is too small for you - weight range to 180, your earlier post said you weigh 185.
I'm thinking more in powder conditions than on groomed snow.
I weigh 185 too and have a 159 cambered board for most days but a 163 for powder and soft snow days.

I should say that as far as the price it's not "worth" it if you are seeking incremental increases in performance for every dollar your spend.....but thats not why you buy a board l ike this.
You are right about e bindings. At first I wanted the X base bindings but you can't find them in canada (if anyone hass a pair they want to sell send me a pm) but now I think I'm going to wait for next year's genesis.
