My Heckler in my playground - some trails a few miles away from my house, a few weeks ago.

That beautiful Southern California weather.

jojotherider I got into riding a few years ago and it has taken me a long time to find that bike that does what I want it to do. A little bit of freeride, a little bit of downhill, and a little bit of all-mountain/enduro riding. After a bunch of different bikes, I ended up with this guy last year:

Transition Bottlerocket

I may swap out the fork, but I need to get it out on an enduro kind of ride where there's a bit more pedaling involved instead of just bombing. I did some pedaling on this bike with a smaller fork and was surprised by how well it pedaled. If I feel good pedaling with this setup I'll keep the Totem. Otherwise, I might just move over to a Fox Talas 180. drop it to 140mm, for the climbs, raise it to 180 for everything else.

tigre I used to ride, when I lived in Texas and Florida. Cross country stuff, not super technical gnarly craziness. Really love tight twisties through the trees, and rolling swoopy trails that make you feel like you're flying.

Not much of that here, though. There's a small group starting up in town wanting to build some trails now, which I'm excited about. If we can defeat the alders and not get devoured by bears, we could have some fun. I don't have anything fancy, just a Raleigh M800 and a GT Pantera, both over 10 years old. Might be nice to get something newer and lighter, but they're both perfectly serviceable. Lately I've been riding the Raleigh around town on the ice and snow, studless. It's actually a lot of fun. I don't think even a fat bike would work on the trails around here in the winter. Just too much snow.

Tech420 Here's my new rig I bought towards the end of summer. 2012 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 29er I have since converted to tubeless with 2.3 Purgatory's and a Command Post Blacklite seatpost.

chomps1211 LOVE the trails!! I Do it for to get outdoors, for the Fun, the Exercise, and just plain Recreation,.. I keep track of my times & milage, but only for the calorie count! ;-) I only compete against myself.

You'll Never catch me doin' that "Hardcore shit" I see 'em doin out in Moab or off those raised platforms they use in the PNW! It looks like a lot of fun, but at 51,.. I don't bounce like I used to!

Didn't get to do as much this year as the last two,.. Mixie was right. It's depressing as hell how "Fast" that conditioning disappears!! :-(

Toecutter,... You ever hit Island Lake Rec Area's trails? They're pretty good, 6-9- or 15 mi. (combined) Pretty nice scenery and some good ups & downs! Although I hear "Pot" is supposed to have some REALLY killer climbs, doesn't it?

I ride an REI brand Novara 29'r. About $800 new in '10. Rode the $2500 Trek superfly AL pro at the demo days last spring! LOVED it!! Gonna try to afford it next spring!

See ya on the hills!

SnowRock Just got into mountain biking this summer and have been loving it. Purchased a 2013 Specialized Hardrock in July and have probably put around 200 miles on it so far.

Been a blast but have already had to "upgrade" a few things due to me breaking stuff. New rear DR after a stick busted the schit out of mine, new set of cranks after pedal threads completely stripped on the cheap stock suntour ones. Both lead to fun hikes out of the woods for me.

Now I want to put a real front fork on it.. and replace my wheels/tires. I see why so many people suggest holding out until you are willing to spend $$ on a level or two above an entry level bike. On the high end have done a few 15 mile rides, looking to push it to 20 soon. Definitely not a cheap sport!

Getting pretty good with a lot of the climbs in my local parks but haven't ridden the tougher park around here yet.. may try and hit it up this saturday if weather holds.

ThunderChunky I'd love to be, but I'm poor enough with snowboarding. Can't even afford a bike.

omg RAD paint job. A buddy of mine used to race road bikes back in the 90s. He's got a GT that he had custom anodized with purple and yellow parts!!! You need a turquoise top tube pad on that thing!

Argo, Fuji makes nice bikes. I'd be wary of a low end FS mtn but if the org price is 3k Im sure it's a very nice bike.

I am still healing from my busted finger but next week I am going up to the Mammoth bike park. Im gonna bring a road bike and rent a FS mtb oh yeah!
