cm4short I was just in Bear the week before christmas(18th-22nd.) And conditions were decent. Temps finally dropped so they could finally start making decent snow round the clock. They also got several inches, so conditions were pretty good.

I just checked the weather and they're getting back-2-back storms. The one this week, followed by one coming next week too. Cank wait till my blackout dates are over.

Ballbearing A couple of months ago I was reading NOAA reports on El Nino regarding the SW area and the reports showed a whole lot of winter conditions following Nino, even though Nino's passed. I was very skeptical at first, but it looks like it's completely accurate.

They mentioned something called the North Atlantic Oscillation...a counter-clockwise wind pattern that's centered in the east-ward area of the United States. This "fan" is pushing El Nino further south while giving the Southwest the weather from the central north....which is a lot of snow and rain. La Nina is a long ways out...and I hope will never come back.

If this storm holds out till next weekend it looks like AZ should get hit as well as CO! Hoping for an early opening this year for Sunrise...Xmas opening day last year was some BS

Megatron X I'm hoping that I'll be able to have some decent snow when I return home

C.B. Midwesteners be afraid not, I have snowboarded 3 times in October this year( 2 times on natty snow (including today)) we have been getting regular snow weekly and our precip patterns typically persist and improve throught the winter. I'm predicting massive lake effect.

El Niņo stalled out last month, leaving neutral conditions in place in the tropical Pacific."

Why El Niņo stopped, forecasters said they don't know, but that it's unusual.
"This is incredibly unique in roughly 60 years of data,"

Halpert said it now appears that 2012 is on track to be the warmest year in the 118 years since forecasters started keeping records.

For now, an El Niņo watch remains in effect because there's still a window of time for it to emerge.
Hoping for cold and not the crap we had last year

This sounds like a much better year, it must be the only accurate forecast.
