I don't think we have to worry about Hauwei taking over any telecommunications services in the US anytime soon. According to a US Congressional report this month they are a National Security risk and should be shut out of the US market. They are already blacklisted in Australia and GB is following suit. So nothing to worry about yet..

What I hate about Luxottica is that they snatch up brands that have built great names and reputations based largely on making a great product. As soon as they acquire them, here comes a bunch of cheap plasticy bullshit that looks like you bought it for $15 at the corner drugstore.
Ray Ban and Oakley still make some quality stuff, but stop into a Sunglass Hut and check out some of the models. Cheaply made bullshit but they still expect you to pay $150.

Both the Hauwei and Luxottica pieces were interesting for sure. I don't care as much about Luxottica dominating the market - the only time I'm not wearing glasses is when I'm excercising or sleeping and so I've always worn top-of-the-line specs. I'm not sure that they're a Lux model (I wear Silouettes) but the CEO of Lux said it right - eyeglasses are one of the ONLY products that are 100% functional and 100% aesthetic. Yes, the prices suck but I'm only buying a new pair of glasses every 7-8 years (that's been my routine so far). I can afford to drop several hundred knowing they're gonna last me almost a decade. Sunglasses...now thats a whole other story...
The Hauwei piece scares me. I'm not familiar with the telecommunications industry but a company that has shady dealings with the Chinese gov'ment trying to strangle the American market? No thanks. I'll take Cisco anyday, I don't care if HWs products are superior. I say keep them out.
I thought the most interesting bit of that 60 minutes was the Rodriguez feature. So cool. He also sounds almost EXACTLY like Dylan!

This just sounds scary to me.
To make sure I'm reading this correctly it's saying Romney the "get tough on china" canadate founded a company that has been trying to get into bed with a Chineese company that creates a giant national security risks in America. Now he may not have had a big part in making this deal or pushing the subject but he is the founder and could have put his foot down on the subject saying NO. Now if he becomes president and pushes to allow hauwei to rebuild the american telecom infrastructure he stands to gain millions in perosonal wealth while hurting American telecom companies like Cisco and endangering our national security.
Does that sound like an accurate interpretation?
