agree with all above but i would add 2 points:

1) consider weight of the boot as well

2) I have a light board and bindings and a heavier board and bindings and I do notice it on the lift. I wouldn't sacrifice physio or gym membership for a lighter board but if you're not going to change your spending on those items a lighter board will at least make a difference on the chair, might mean an extra run or two per day. I doubt board weight will matter from a riding perspective in terms of strain on your leg, other than a light board might convince you to act like superman and thus hurt yourself.

Was the injury recent? If you are keeping up on your conditioning and stretching, You should be 95% to where you were a year later, even if you had surgery.

Most of the stress on your knees in snowboarding comes from your speed and the associated acceleration changes that come with that speed (like stomping landings, catching your edge, carving hard), not the weight of your gear. What can't you do know that you could do before?

You might consider looking for a board with more dampening (instead of lighter weight) to soak up the jolts and vibrations shooting up your legs. Anyways good luck!

Ezkimo I am using proper technique, just sucks I cant go 100% anymore. Looking for some suggestions on making it easier.

Currently i am rocking a 158 Wide Ride Kink with some big bulky union bindings. Time for a change i think.

Equalizer will grip more. You wont be fighting for edgehold comin down under the gondola or through the shitty section of A51. Which will save you energy and thus save your knee from further aggravation.

Get some sort of knee brace too. Even just a neoprene compression thing will help.

Ezkimo The Sanchez is basic you are right, with the drift are you inferring that the Equalizer will make a difference with my knee and its stability? Reason for the sanchez is because its $150 across the street from me and I am not looking to pay full price for a board.

-Also thanks for the suggestion on the insoles, I WILL get them, I will take anything to add some stability to my very loose feeling knee.

Nivek The lightest set up is not going to make all that much difference than something a little heavier. We're talking ounces here. As long as you don't pick stuff that is characteristically heavy, you'll be fine.

Sanchez is so stupid basic. Bump up to the Drift Rocker. Equalizer will make a difference.

For bindings more important than weight is going to be canting and dampening. Look into K2 Nationals if you want something to match with the Drift. Harshmellow and Canting. Another option is the new Rome Mob Boss. Not quite as good of dampening compared to the K2, but a bit stiffer highback and they might be a tad lighter (like a few ounces, like 3 maybe).

More important than both of those for a bad knee is a good set of boots with after market insoles. Stock insoles in snowboard boots are seriously worthless. Check out Remind. I believe the Big Hit in Breck carries them. Sling on over and grab a pair.

Hey I am looking for a extremely light setup, and I am talking board bindings. Thinking of buying last years sandchez but not sure which bindings. The reason I am looking for the lightest setup is I hurt my knee and it would make things much easier to maneuver with it being lighter. Any suggestions?
