I've been to Sugarbush and that mountain is rad. Planning on returning in January.

I have never been to Jay Peak or Stowe, but I hear both are awesome too.

Stratton was a lot of fun two seasons ago.

East§ide it sounds like what you want is smuggs.. best natural terrain, powder, etc.

SnowRock From my perspective its Stowe then Jay. Both are great but certainly have a different vibe. Terrain wise, I know Stowe a bit better, but think with both you are getting the best VT offers and probably the east form my experience (including the maine/NH resorts ive ridden).

While you may not be looking for nightlife, you have something going on at Stowe. Apres at the Matterhorn is a great time and the Rusty Nail is a real solid spot... miss The Shed. Jay, well not so much.. though they have the waterpark now.

I have never ridden Smuggs but have heard good things.

Lifttoker Thanks for the advice everyone. In the group thats going i cant really think of anyone that is always trying to ride in the park so Im guessin more steep terrain/varied terrain would be best. I want nothing but deep pow and steeps so what? I guess I should look at resorts farthest north? I just dont wanna be stuck on a mountain with barely any steep terrain or mostly blues/greens. Nightlife isnt that important as im not trying to go out and get smashed everynight plus thats a drain on funds for things like lift tickets and gas. Besides, from my user name you can tell im not much of a drinker anyway..... Thanks again for the advice everyone!! Ill start to look at trail maps and prices soon.

eli783 Stowe is awesome. They have a bit of everything for everyone, price is really the only con. For two nights you definitely be spending at least 300 tho

sheepstealer Go to Jay or Smuggs. Or anything up near Burlington.

I'll +1 Mount Snow, but only if you hit it during the week (they have an epic park, probably one of the best on the east coast). Avoid on the weekends at all costs. Too many Boston/New Yorkers head up there or Stratton to get their once-a-year ski weekends in and the places gets mobbed. (Yes, I live in Boston but I coach on weekends, I don't consider myself a Bostonian).

Okemo is ok. Not steep enough for me.

Kilington's nightlife is the best.

Moral of the story is head north. Better snow, less crowds.

sleev-les I've only ever been to Stowe, but we had a good time. It wasn't too bad as far as price. I paid $400 or 3 nights in a deluxe room at Grey Fox Inn. I could have gotten a standard for $300. Night life was ok. I was just happy that restaurants and bars stayed open past 8. I'm going to the Jay Peak trip this year and thinking about going to Killington..

Listheeb21 Coming in at #107 would be Killington
