snowklinger You have a bomb shelter that will survive interplanetary collision?

Assuming my bomb shelter holds, I'm set. Making the solo 14 hour drive from Chicago to Silverthorne on Sunday, beaver creek on Monday, copper mountain on Tuesday and drive back Wednesday or Thursday if I plan to stay another night.

digZ Speaking of holidays, will the summit/eagle county resorts be a shit show on new years day? I'll be gone over xmas, but was thinking about doing a day trip to A-Basin, Breck, or Vail on NYD since they're starting to open up some more of the good stuff. I've never been on an actual holiday, but I think it'd be packed as shit. Any long time local advice?

gunner252 Yeah, my wife and I are doing some night skiing at Keystone on Christmas Eve. Can't wait!

2hellnbak Xmas is actually one of my favorite days of the year to go because it's never crowded and it seems like it's almost always a powder day in my experience

Your mountain may differ but Loveland is always a great time on Xmas day.

Argo Lifts have been opening at 830 since Friday in vail. Should be that way until march. Open on all holidays. Usually quiet on the holiday too.

gunner252 Keystone is open on Christmas Eve (all day) and Christmas Day. I called 'em yesterday. I would imagine Breck, Beaver Creek, etc. are open as well.

killclimbz All of the areas you mentioned are open Christmas Day. They are probably running early starts too. 8:30am versus 9am. In fact, I can't think of a single ski area in Colorado, or anywhere in the west for that matter that would be closed Christmas. This is big money making season for them right now.
