because Patrol didn't open it until late. Too windy, too cold, too much avalanche control, etc, etc..... And just when it kinda
gets good, they close for the season.

linvillegorge One of the best days of the season. That was good.

Boot deep mid-winter consistency powder above 12k feet, a little denser snow around tree line, and heavy spring snow toward the base but it was all good.

Meanwhile, off topic a bit, but has anyone else noticed that Open Snow sucks ass these days? Joel used to do a great job forecasting for us, giving personal insight, explaining how a storm is coming in, giving multiple updates during the day leading up to a storm, being precise on details, etc., etc. These days, it's pretty much just the first thing in the morning forecast which consists of copying and pasting what the models say followed by talking about his upcoming hut trip. Shit sucks. Boo, Joel. Fucking boo. I've pretty much stopped even using him as a resource. Basically just NOAA and CAIC. Joel has gotten lazy as fuck. I pretty much ditched him as a source when I noticed that his "forecasts" pretty much mirrored NOAA forecasts and when they'd shuck he'd shuck, when they jived he'd jive. IMO, the guy is pretty much playing his followers for suckers these days and living off of his reputation which he legitimately earned but he's not living up to.

killclimbz This storm looks to be a nice little sleeper. 4" at Winterpark and there is already almost 2 more on the stake since they cleaned it off this morning. These late season storms always come in wet and ride deeper than they really are. Should be fun.

Someoldguy Thanks for the replies.

Phedder: There's some longitudinal grooves, this was on a brand new Sims Juice I just got on sale at a local shop so no stone grind should be needed for some time. 1st day on it, but waxed it correctly and brushed to make the grooves before taking it out first time. Learned the hard way that factory wax can be really shitty in the past.

Will try the Hertel Bigfoot, I put One Ball Jay warm temp on it. It wasn't that bad, but felt some sticking in spots throughout the afternoon. I also don't scrape heavy and let the snow do some of the work.

Might squeeze in one more day before WP closes. We should ride together someday Bigfoot since your also in Lakewood I think. I go solo mostly because I like the flexibility of being able to just say fuck it I'm done my old body hurts and leave without inconveniencing whoever went up with me. Also none of my old snowboard buddies in CO ride much anymore due to life and kids and stuff.

You probably need a stone grind as well to put some structure into your base. Is your base completely smooth or can you see some longitudinal grooves through it like this picture?
