neni Good morning!

Busy weekend. Been riding freshies all weekend even though it's some days since the last dump. Top section opened first time this year, yay, an entire peak with untracked snow
After chewing up every foot, Sunday it was earn your turns day to get more fresh to ride in perfect bluebird weather.

No snow in the forecast; stable snow pack, more bluebirds... perfect time to go BC .
Have fun!

One day trip would be no problem; train connections should be good to Grindelwald/Wengen (check at SBB: Der grösste Bahnhof der Schweiz.). Impressive mts to look at when riding there! If you can go on a week day, you can avoid long weekend lift lines from (today, every kid and its granny was on the slopes; Switzerland is covered in snow, cold temps, bluebird; ppl suddenly remember that they have skis/boards on the attic )
Fortunately I'm hitting both Davos and Zermatt one weekdays (woohoo!!) my only other open day would be Sunday the 5th so maybe. My sister said something about Chienbase at night on the 5th in Basel so who knows what the plan is. I'm heading to Colorado next weekend for a good primer trip before I fly into Europe (I fly in and out of Paris)

Think it would be worth it for just a day (train to and from Basel in the same day)

Anywhere you recommend in particular? I know pow is unpredictable, but i'd rather take steep and deep rather than groomed runs. I can hit jumps and boxes here in Canada anytime. A little scenery, something different, and something a little cost-effective. I know it'll be pricey wherever I go, but I don't need ritzy. I may even buy and bring a split board for back country.

I signed up to this forum, to ask this only question - I await your recommendations! thanks,

A guy recently had a similar question over here: http://www.snowboardingforum.com/wes...tzerland.html; the time frame should be good, I've recorded deep pow days in all the recent years in that period.

Woop woop! Yuuuup pretty awesome. Even though it's deep and soft, got two core shots after which i cracked the board for good, hah!

Upper.sections partly opened. First taste of proper freeriding for the season, woooo! 500m descent in steep untouched pow. What a day.

neni Lol, after a day of riding pow, legs already pretty toast, the getting back to the cabin was connected with quite some sweat the 1km usually takes us 10minutes. Today it was a 40min fight trough the meanwhile hip to waist deep untracked snow.

What a difference! 10 days ago this slope was green grass.

You guys who were scared about your planned/booked trips to the Alps: no worries! The goods have arrived! This weeklong dump made for a good base; been riding pow all day and didn't get one scratch; it's all nicely covered meanwhile.

@1400m

Resort didn't open the top section today (high winds). Fingers crossed that those lifts will run tomorrow There are soooo many untracked runs up there!!! (And BTW: it's still snowing )
