Other boots I've used, I was able to ratchet down just about anywhere with no problem. With the nikes, the toe is soft and the bindings dent in and absolutely annihilate my pinky toes.

Go to some rental shops and see if they have extra thingys for the inner lacing system. I am not sure about this, but other brands should work with them.
I hated my Zoom Forces.

Zoom force ones broken
So I'm in whistler right now and the liner lace clip, the part that keeps the liner tight, broke as I was tightening it. I tied a knot to compensate, but was wondering if these clip things were sold by Nike or anything like that. I bought these boots secondhand so I don't have a warranty.
