When you look through the buy/sell area 90% of the posts you see are from people with 3-10 posts. Generally you don't see hardly any more posts from these people and it has to make a guy sit and wonder... why did they actually become a member? Not saying they are all scam artists but damn, atleast try to gain some type of reputation before you solicit your old shit here, right? Maybe we need to implement some sort of requirement and not let our buy/sell equipment area become such a random whore-zone. Maybe I'm just a paranoid bastard but unless I've read 100+ posts of yours I'm not even going to pretend that I would consider an offer. Let me know if I am a paranoid newb basher

no man, i think that's totally legit. this forum is all about the community, and i'd like there to be a place where people who have invested in the community can confidently swap, buy, and sell their gear. great idea!

MOST web forums have sone kinda of requiremnt like that...usually have to be a member for more than 30 days and make over X number of posts...

So what would you suggest to somebody who buys a bunch of stuff online and none of it fits well. I have three boards. Two of them do not fit my size 13 feet. Should I stick them under the bed and wait for my children to grow into them when somebody on this forum might want a cheap Burt for yard use. It is still an improvement over FLEA Bay.

You guys are absolutely right! I would have all of the trust in the world in somebody who has 300 or more posts. Who cares if it is sarcasm or worthless rambling. Why would you trust somebody you cannot track down in the first place?

Well, sure, that is alwasy the case. However, there are some ways to reduce the risks to people are active members of the forum. And that, I think, is a good thing.

Problem is, you anyone can become and member and has to become one to post in the forums. It's the open nature of a community like this. Assigning a total number of posts before they can sell doesn't really work. I've seen longtime members of other forums become complete douchebags and rip people off. iskibc on TGR comes to mind. If post count is what makes you decide on the risk by all means use it as you see fit. I just don't see the administrative staff adding this as a criteria for that forum.

Best bet is to make sure you get the seller's contact info (at least a phone #) and call them up, work things out over the phone. Then if something goes awry you have a way to track them down. Don't go blindly sending postal MOs and checks to whoever can use an image tag.
