I just recently acquired a job at mammoth mountain ski resort as a lift operator. I was wondering how the nightlife is there, since I will be there until April and I have never been there before.

Doesn't seem to be a whole lot to do. I go up atleast once a season and things seem to close pretty early.

There is pretty much 3 places: Hyde, whisky creek, and the other one down from hyde like 100 feet.

There are more than 3, and honestly for the size of the town and where it is geographically I don't think the night life is all that bad. Besides the ones already mentioned there's the Dubliner, Clocktower, Lakanuki, and a bunch of smaller restaurants that also have bars. Each place kind of has their own flavor, just depends on what you're looking for. And obviously weekends are the busiest, but there are some fun mid-week nights there too if you hit the right place.

I've gotten the impression that there's some kind of rotation that some of the resort crew and locals follow during the week so one place will be busy each night, I just don't really know what it is. It won't take you long to figure out where to go once you get up there.

The bad news: There really is no nightlife in Mammoth Lakes, unless you like drinking in small bars with a 10-1 guy to girl ratio.

The good news: If you're working as a lift operator you wouldn't be able to afford real nightlife anyways, so really, you're saving money here!

Well I make less now and pay more rent than I will be there, so I'm pretty sure I will be able to have a decent enough nightlife. Thanks for being negative!

congrats on scoring that job! I've been looking @ what's left for the Vail-crew and contemplating whether or not to suck it up and take advantage of the cheap-cheap employee housing.

Is Mammoth anywhere close to Kirkwood, Northstar, or Heavenly?

Dubliner closed last season, that place was the shit. the night life in Mammoth is a lot of fun during peak season.... lots of hot tourists/foreigners. if bars arent your style its pretty easy to make friends and find house parties, theres always something going on
