Great day in the Berkshires! Now headed to LOON!

Butternut isn't exactly "big mountain," that's for sure, but we went yesterday and it was damned near perfect...now if it was only twice the vert! Mostly bluebird day, NO PEOPLE with most runs all to yourself, perfect packed powder was FAST. And with mid-week tix at just $25 it was tough to beat.

We were supposed to drive up to Loon tomorrow, but because of the massive killer storm moving in we're leaving tonight and trying to beat the worst of it. Probably won't arrive until after 10:00 pm...but ski club discount is offering $35 tix, even through the holiday weekend. Maybe we'll get to ride tomorrow if it's not too crazy. At that price, just a handful of runs will be a nice way to start the long weekend. If not, oh well -- snowed in with my sweetie in a nice little New Hampshire inn for an early Valentine's Day. Last I heard Loon was in the 12-18" snow prediction. This could be epic!

I'll be there on Friday. I have a few friends going to Loon Saturday so I might tag along for that too and some others asking about Sunapee on Sunday. My girlfriend rode the day after the last storm and raved about how good the conditions were.. I'm not missing out this time around. I might try to convince some people to drive up to Sugarloaf or Jay Peak this weekend or next week.

Let it snow.

Just checked in about 45 minutes ago. Hot tub and heated pool open until midnight. Woohoo! Cold, but nowhere near as cold as VT. Snow supposed to start mid-day. Since we have cheap tix I think we'll sleep in and wait till 11:00 or so, then rock the deep stuff on Friday. Glad we came up early...the drive would suck in the snow.
