Killington

Friends gave me the key to their condo at Killington for two weeks April. Some say I will be intimidated by the mountain. Am a newbie having boarded 8 weekends (Bretton Woods, Shawmee peak, Cranmore, Crotched Mt, Pats Peak and Wachusett). Am comfy on green circle trails, chasing my friend in the park and most blues. Any recs to get warmed up at Killington?

Don't sweat it, Killington isn't as tough or big as it's made out to be. You should be fine, probably some nice spring riding by then.

There are a lots of mellow runs at Killington. You will be fine.

If i remember correctly there is a very wide, green or blue trail at Ramshead side. That trail is pretty wide and mellow.

Two weeks of straight spring boarding is sweet, especially decent sunny days. Just prepare for sunburn, can be worse than going to the beach because the snow reflects the light right back at you. Spring corn can be harsh on exposed skin as well, very abrasive if you wipeout. Find someone with a condo at Sugarloaf when you get done with Killington. The "Loaf" is badass in spring.

Two weekends at Killington in April = Spring Snowboard Bliss

The Pros

Free Condo a mile from Ramshead +++ (thanks for my friends, Doug and Nancy)
Liquid Art for drinks apres snowboard (coffee/hot chocolate/tequila)
Neff and Stash Parks for my boyfriend and I to play
Gondola for a scenic warm ride to the peak
Nice life attendants
Tissues all over the place
Dog Friendly
Lots of blues for me, a beginner
No waits (April weekends)
Lots of shops and April sales
Fun events

The Cons

Walked a lot
Walked a lot
Speed traps in nearby Woodstock (everyone complains about this apparently)
Not an easy mountain to navigate initially (we used the trail maps constantly for a few days)

We liked it well but early to mid April it was fairly busy with buses from NYC and full parking lots. Cannot imagine this mountain peak season. Would go back for more spring sessions, never high season.
