Default Ouch...have to take relatives to S'bush during holiday blackout.

What is the word on conditions? My nephew is a snowmaker at Sugarbush, and has ten passes which are supposedly transferrable -- but we still don't know if they are blacked out for New Years Day. He's a kid, and not too responsive to our concerns. Meanwhile, I have to make reservations for hotels (yeah, right) for 4 adults and two kids -- my sister and her family are visiting from Thailand, of all places, and my nephew and BIL are hell-bent on getting one or two days on the snow. I'm going to pay out the wazoo, and already found a couple of rooms for at least one night, but I'm wondering about the conditions. If the free passes turn out to be blacked out, I could hit up Loon, which is closer to home but is also going to be crowded as shit. Plus they have a five-year-old who needs to be in day-care most of the day, so I have to take them to a bigger resort.

Being basically local I'm not used to these prices! OUCH! I don't think I've ever paid $95 for a lift ticket in my life, never mind nearly $200 for a room at a Best Western! But if the conditions are good I'll bite the bullet.

So...anyone ridden The Bush lately? What's the prognosis for New Years Day (besides hell?).

FYI if anyone cares...I was able to answer at least some of my own questions; Like most of Vermont, Sugarbush took a beating from last week's weather. Apparently only about 50 or so trails were open over Christmas holiday, but the temps dropped pretty drastically Sunday and they're back to snowmaking. Web site said they planned to be back up to 104 (out of 111) today, and even some natural snow is expected, and it's going to stay cold this week...by the time we get there Wednesday (probably not riding until Thursday) hopefully things will be back in good shape.

Oh, and my nephews passes aren't free (just as I suspected) but still a good deal...$45 during holidays.
