average resort opening date?
 

no matter how many resort websites i check, not one of them ever says what theyre planned opening day is ...so im asking you guys , whats the general opening day for mountains like big boulder, blue mountain, hunter, mountain creek, etc?

im dying to ride again

big boulder typically starts running their lifts before everyone else. A few years ago it was Nov 11thish, last year it was December 3rd. The rest of the guys are normally a few weeks after that.

The average opening for all the bigger pa mountains is late november early december.

We're all amped for it dude. But for now we're stuck to bed mattress and trampoline boarding.

ugh i cant stand the not knowing. i just want a date to mark on my calendar. so what happens? they just randomly announce that theyre open?

On average I would say to count on most resorts opening the first week of December

I think its determined by temperatures...
I just checked. The average PA temp in Allentown, PA (near a lot of hills) is 47 degrees by Nov 30.

Speaking of that... looks like Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado are getting DUMPED on right now.

east coast yeah I'd say first week of december. here in Michigan many of the resorts target a Thanksgiving weekend opener. They can usually do that with a few runs open. The smaller hills often beat the larger resorts by a few days.

I think the earliest I've ridden is November 17 but I recall a few years when we didn't have open slopes until mid-December.

You'll get a few that open in November but for the most part it seems like the beginning of December is when the majority of the resorts open. Obviously it depends on snowfall and temperature but that seems to be a reliable date to look forward to.

Killington and Mt. Snow vt are open right now if you wanna drive that far!
