Stowe Opening Day

So I've been very excited to go to Stowe, even more so when I noticed that their projected opening date is next Saturday, the 19th. Their website says that they're planning on opening with top-to-bottom skiing but with only 9 days to go, I don't see how they'll be able to make that much snow in such little time. I've been watching their website and webcams and there is not an inch of snow anywhere on that mountain.

Do you guys think they'll be able to open by then, or should I forget about it and wait until next month to go?

Pray for an early start to the season!

Why would you wait another month to go when you could go now. That's like starving to death and not eating a loaf of bread for another month. Unless you don't have the opportunity, there is no reason to not go snowboarding.

I think he is asking if it is possible they will open on the 19th with no snow.

Anything is possible, check the weather forecast.... is it a natural hill or do they use snowmakers? That's plenty of time to make a snow run if they have those running.

Well, the main reason is that I wouldn't be driving, I'd be going with a local ski-trip place (NEAS) and they're charging $74. I wouldn't want to commit if there's only going to be minimal terrain open, I'd rather wait until next month when they would have more terrain open.

It's been pretty warm in New England for the last few days. I haven't seen snow in the forecast, but they do make their own snow so I guess anything's possible.

Just thought I'd ask haha. Not sure if anyone is familiar with their previous opening dates and how they've done it in the past

Pray for an early start to the season!

MT Snow also says the 19th but to be honest I don't believe it.

Hmm, just checked the Stowe site again this morning and they started making snow today. The webcam looks good, they're planning to open next saturday as planned. Looks like I'll be buying my tickets and going with a few friends!

Has anyone ever been on opening day in past years? How was it?

Pray for an early start to the season!

Just as I thought, expected openings pushed back.

Mt Snow-around Thanksgiving and Stowe is now the 23rd. I think even that may be pushing our luck.

If the NE could just get a little colder we would be getting pounded right now.

Yup, got an e-mail from Stowe today about the push-backs. A little disappointed but I was kind of expecting it. I wish it would just get cold already
