My wife booked it...SURPRISE! Love that woman. But we're passing White River Junction and it sure looks barren up here! At least Stowe got nearly a foot of real snow over the last couple of days. Jay doesn't make snow, so they're not looking so good...might be spending the time in their new water park.

The pump house is fun @ Jay Peak. Check out the FlowRider surf pool (more like bindingless wakeboarding) and La Chute, the red water slide that drops you like 70' at about 80+ degrees. It drops the floor out from under you and get some serious speed. Everything in the resort is BRAND new and they have pretty good poolside bar.

It wound up snowing all day at Stowe, picked up a few inches to keep things fresh. But it was crowded as balls. I think everybody got the same idea! Didn't go out today because it was raining and -- did I mention I can't ride anyway? Had surgery a couple of months ago for a torn tendon in my foot. But I'm pretty popular with now, everyone wants me to take them to the mountains because I have a handicapped parking pass.

So like I said, Stowe wasn't yet fully open, but a lot more than most other places. We took off this morning and drove to Sutton, in Quebec, just 'cuz we've never been there, and it was something to do. Cool place, but it actually got warmer as we drove north. Sutton only had about 8 trails open, but I'd consider going back. Lots of diamonds, double-blacks and even triple-blacks (steep tree runs). From there we made our way to Jay Peak. Man, has this place changed! Room at the new Hotel Jay came with lift tix and waterpark tix for Sat and Sun. Of course, like I said, I can't use mine. Doesn't matter much, very little is open, and it will probably be an icy hell tomorrow.

The new resort, though, is awesome! First class all the way. Super nice rooms, and that kick-ass indoor waterpark...which, because of the shitty weather and lack of open trails, was insanely crowded. Maybe tonight will be a little better. So foggy now, I'm not sure if they'll do the fireworks. Oh, and one bad thing...our super-nice room has a super-nice big screen tv, but the cable doesn't work. They've only been opened five days, guess they're still working the bugs out.

The big trails were open. And it will be snowing for much of the week. I doubt the mountain will be fully open, but you should be in decent shape...compared to everything else in New England. The best thing about the new Jay Peak...even if you can't ski, the water park is open until 10:00 pm.
