Ok, this winter has been really messed up. So this past weekend Vermont recieved a nice refreshing snowfall for the first time in weeks, as well as a storm that is currently happening right now where they are expecting up to 12" in some parts of central VT. Alas Saturday they are expect a disturbing rainstorm that might ruin the amazing packed powder conditions or hope for the rain might actually be snow....

Every forecast I have checked, including Snow Forecasts, Snow Reports & Snow Conditions and Ski & Snow Report, Ski Deals, Skiing Reviews | OnTheSnow.com, and they are all calling for snow Saturday. Its supposed to rain in the morning and early afternoon followed by a light dusting of snow. How much damage the rain does awaits to be seen

I rode in the rain this January at Fernie. About 4' of powder had fallen the previous week, so we got to the hill Saturday morning only for it to start raining while we were on the hill. We still boarded for about 6 hours although the snow got heavy and we got wet. Dried everything out that night, and the next day was blue skies. I thought the snow was going to be shit but it was okay...
Also, they bombed the bowls all morning and at about 10:30 opened some up and I was boarding in bottomless powder! So it didn't affect the powder in the bowls much if any... Sunday actually turned out to be one of the best days I've ever had on a board. |

They are getting a refresh now and the moisture level in the warm system coming through Saturday doesn't seem too high. Not enough rain to really damage the snow pack but with some rain/mix and cold temps sat night early Sunday might be a little bit rough... but probably gets better

I thought it was going to turn the runs into a hockey rink but I guess if you've got a good powder base it can absorb it. Good luck! |
