Sunday River Soft Opening... is it true? - Snowboarding Forum

One of the local proshops around here posted on Facebook that Sunday River was planning a soft opening for this Saturday the 13th. Has anyone heard about this?

I've met the owner personally and he's usually a pretty reliable guy so I don't think he'd post it without having heard it from a knowledgeable source first, however, I don't think they've seen more than a dusting and it doesn't look like it's gonna be cold enough to make any snow.

Has anyone else heard this? Any details? Regardless, I'm pumped for this season and can't wait for opening day here in New England!

Thats crazy early. I havent seen any snow on the weather forecasts and the temps are ALMOST there but not quite. If this is true, that's sick. I wanna go there this year for my first time, just discovered it.

^Just saw that but figured I'd ask. Seems crazy but it would be awesome for some early season runs. Can't wait to see some snow this year.

According to the few almanacs i've read. The NE is supposed to experience some snow from last week of Oct til the second or third week of November so lets see what happens.

Opening up now is like building an outdoor ice skating rink in the middle of summer, its never gonna happen.
