I work at Okemo but haven't had a chance to get out yet (the joys of working an indoor job at a ski resort) but from what I hear it's pretty nice out. It's still limited terrain but they've been blowing snow like crazy. A friend of mine is going out tomorrow, I'll see what she thinks. The little snow I do get to see looks good.
Tickets aren't at $80 yet. Today they were $55 for a full day. I'm sure by Friday, being a holiday, they will go up but not to full price. We usually don't hit full price until the mountain is at least half open.
Also, my friends report was that it is nice out but the snows showing some brown spots but I'm pretty sure the snow makers are going to put on a fresh coat of snow before Friday.
I went to Jiminy Peak two weekends ago and paid $26..boarded for like 3 and a half hours and got in about 13 runs..in all honesty that was all I needed to get my fix. If you are thinking of Okemo and in the range of Jiminy, they have been opening on the weekends and an 8 hour pass is $36. If you do choose that route, go early as the man made snow gets worn down pretty hard by 2pm and then your dodging some mud spots.
Unless they know something we don't about Friday (which I doubt). I sell tickets and rentals and pretty much know the prices like the back of my hand. Maybe they didn't know when you were coming up? They probably just gave you a general price. Tickets will be $88 weekends and holidays and $80 mid-week when we at full price. Check out the snow report on the website for the most current information. After 6 years I should know what I'm talking about. Most of the people in the call center are new this year.
ive been 4 times so far this season. last i went they had 4 lifts and 14 trails open. snow is surprisingly decent on most days, as soon as the temps drop im sure theyll be blowing hard. two weeks ago there were tons of natural features but not its flattened out a little. they have a small park set up with just 3-4 rails and a box. I have a seasons pass so I cant say whether its worth it or not for you to pay the full price
