holy fuck. humans are so fucking disgusting.

scott - i tend to agree. you know i am a 'gun guy'.... i'd gladly give 'em all up if i thought we could magically disappear them all and somehow live in a world where people couldn't do this kind of shit.
i'm not trying to argue any side of any political statement here... i don't have a fucking clue what the answer is... all i know is this shit is absolutely insane and darker than anything my psyche can relate with.

I don't think it's that many dead. 2 confirmed that I can find. Several shot though, just like Aurora. This is really getting old. Norway has a horrible mass shooting in 2011 and then how many after? America has a horrible shooting in Aurora and so many after I can't count them on my fingers and toes. I agree that mass murder weapons probably don't need to be out there. Most gun rights people won't argue that we should have access to grenade launchers after all...

This guys is just a sociopath. A lot of the children killed were in Kindergarten? Just heard that the shooter evidently killed his parents before doing this. Absolutely horrible. My condolences to all of the people effected by this. I can't imagine the situation they are in.

No these things will never go away. There is also no reason that they should happen with such regularity. Lots of pieces of the system need to be rethought. Not just gun control for sure. Mental health is huge.

We'll never eliminate it. History proves that, but we sure as hell can limit it better than this.

Mental health is one of those things that's frowned upon talking about. You have to whisper to your friends if you're feeling depressed, and most people quickly look for a way out of that conversation if it's brought up. It's unfortunate that people can't say that they're scared, sad, lonely, etc. for fear of riducle, or being further outcast.

Unfortunately it's deeply engrained in our culture at this point to shun anyone who's suffering from a mental health issue in one way or another. I've been guilty at points in my life for making fun of people that were on anti-depressants. I made fun of somebody smart enough to go and try to get help! Now possibly the help provided (quick give them drugs and get to the next patient!) is what I should have been making fun of...

Whether mental health relates to this incident or not, it is something we need to confront head on. It's amazing how much better life can be when you get past a stumbling block in your brain... I KNOW. ;)

It could help somebody from making a HORRIBLE decision.

First report I saw said a pair of 9mm handguns were found, nothing about AR-15's or anything "crazy"...

Don't know what goes through peoples heads to make them do something like this. I had the nearly uncontrollable urge to grab a nice bum the other day, but I stopped myself... You'd think somewhere along the line of these peoples "plans" they'd say to themselves that something's FUCKED UP.

just cannot understand what goes in their heads to commit such acts! i'm sure there would be those" he was a good person, loving,,,blah, blah but not sure why he/she did this.i guess will never know. just tired of excuses for the shooter but there is not much we can really do. sad as it is,this will become another tragedy, then state/city officials will talk about it, and later it will fade into the backburner with no solutions. i'm sorry if i offended anyone with my comments but its just how i feel. My prayers to the families of the victims.

last update is 20 kids dead. on nbc they are saying they might of got the name of the killer wronge. then something about his brother being dead too. i really dont know what is going on.
even if we do make all guns illegal that still won't keep them off the streets and in peoples hands. just like drugs and other shit like that.

It would be a long time, but unlike drugs, you can't grow guns. Australia outlawed guns completely and they are not having in .001% of the problems with gun violence that we are.

Not that I am really for guns be outlawed. That's stupid. Too many legitimate uses. Some of these larger caliber, just for killing guns aren't really all that necessary either.

My heart goes out to those families affected by this senseless shooting. It shows a need in this country to discover what is leading to people making these decisions that are contrary to normal everyday life. I hate to think that people are going to say that gun control is needed. I want to remind everyone there having been tragedies in the US with multiple deaths that didn't involve a gun. Fire, spiked Flavor-Aid, vehicles, and explosives have all been used to end life. I believe society faces a value crises. I'm not saying teaching students religious values, but common-sense life lessons. How to deal with loss, make decisions that don't limit survival, seek help, etc. I believe the disconnect that society has due to a decrease in human to human interaction makes it easier to jump that line from fantasy to enacting out in reality. So take the time to reflect how you interact with others both through technology and not. Might be a kind word here or there might make a difference. Not tearing people down or belittling a person could make the difference.

Unbelievable. Fuck, this shit makes my head hurt. I am a high school teacher and after this kind of shit goes down it seriously makes me think really hard about leaving the profession. It happens far too frequently The bottom line is our schools are not at all secure. How in the hell did this fucktard manage to get into the elementary school in the first place? The answer is simple, people come and go as they please in a vast majority of schools and no one is ever searched. I mean, you pass through a metal detector to get into any government building in the country, but why not schools? It's fucking ridiculous.
