Trip Recommendation (28-31st)
 

Hey guys,

Complete beginner rider. Probably hit the mountain about a dozen times in the last 15 years. I can get down the hill without killing myself.

I live in Northern NJ and I'm willing to travel ~7 hours max for this trip. I've been looking at Jay Peak, Mont Tremblant, Killington, etc...

Does anyone have a recommendation on somewhere to go that may not be disgustingly mobbed and would have a decent number of trails and preferably the terrain park open? I guess conditions can change pretty drastically within a week...but it sounds like most places are partially open...

Do all terrain parks generally have beginner boxes? No gap, ride-on, and wide?

I had a quick look at the Tremblant website today and they seem to be about 50% to 2/3 open. As with most places you will not be as impacted by this if you are a beginner; the steeper slopes need more snow thus open later.

I went to Tremblant a couple years ago between Xmas and New Year's and it was madness from a crowding perspective; I heard they do half their revenue over Xmas week and it sure felt like it, the lifts were super lined up.

just came back from mont tremblant and they had a big snowfall Monday on the way back down. It snowed all weekend....great conditions, but got windy on Sunday. It was great

Likely to be the destination...keeping an eye on snow reports and likely going to just plan last minute.

Exile, remember like you everyone is traveling and riding over the holiday break. As Lamps pointed out this is a huge revenue generating time of year for resorts. So expect big crowds no matter where you go.

Go with the flow, enjoy the time riding, I like to use the singles line it helps speed up your wait time. If we have a group we still use the single line but just wait at the top for everyone to gather. Might not be right but we do go as singles.

I"m going to our local hill after lunch I I expect long lines, but as I said I just roll with it.

Mont tremblant is a real good time. Very big mountain for east coast standards, night life is pretty good and it's got that French Canadian vibe to it so it feels like your farther away from the states than u actually are.
